Homes for sale in Manhattan

Manhattan, which is also New York County, is the smallest of the five boroughs by area and the densest, with 1,694,251 residents in the 2020 Census on about 22.7 square miles of land. It is bounded by the Hudson, the East River, the Harlem River and New York Harbor, and linked to Brooklyn and Queens by bridges including the Brooklyn Bridge (1883) and the Queensboro Bridge (1909).

Its districts range from the Financial District and Battery Park City to Greenwich Village, Midtown and Harlem, and the borough is home to Central Park, Columbia University and NYU. Brownstones are concentrated on the Upper West Side, the Upper East Side and in Harlem. Many apartment buildings in New York are co-ops, where buyers purchase shares in the building rather than the unit itself, and a board approves purchasers.
